CLS 63 Clicking sound at start up
The last couple of times I have started up my car it has made a continuous clicking sound coming from right behind the front driver side wheel. It sounds like it is coming from inside the engine bay. All I can say is that when I slowly bring the car to a higher RPM the click goes faster and faster which makes me think it is a belt or something with the exhaust system. After driving the car and getting it up to temperature the sound goes away. Has anyone experienced this or know what is going on? Going to take the car in if it doesnt stop. Thanks

Could be a sticky lifter, does it go away or lesson as car warms up? if yes deff lifter prob... It's known as "lifter wrap" doesn't usually happen on lower mileage cars unless you haven't changed your oil regularly

Yes it does go away slowly as car warms up. 3900 miles on car and had oil changed once at 1850 miles. Sound sort of reminds me of when I used to blow exhaust donuts on my Chevy Tahoe post power programmer mod. The only difference is the Benz is much more insulated so you dont hear it inside the car, and also it goes away while driving. Yeah I think Ill bring it in. Dont worry boys, I won't abuse it in the mean time, daily driver takes the brunt of my driving anyways so won't hurt to put the benz on the shelf for hopefully not too long of a time. Only other thing I can think of is that the car seems to be sitting a hair lower than normal. I do have the Renntech ELM installed on the car. Could it be the air compressor failing trying to pump up the bags? Just a thought.

Woah woah woah. Does it sound like you have a playing card stuck in one of your spokes? Kind of like on a bicycle or something? Becuase my car has been doing the same thing - I hear a clicking noise that happens upon each rotation of my wheel, sounds like the something is getting "flicked" each time the wheel turns arond. This happens at all RPMs and all engine temps. It does not go away. I know this has happened before and I just ignored it thinking it was a leaf stuck in my rotor or something, and sure enough it went away. Could this be a serious issue? Its been doing it for about a week and a half now...

The new 63 motors will click/tick upon start up, until they are warm...if this "click" is so loud that it bothers you, just take it in and have the dealer look at it...the first one I showed did the same thing, after about 3 minutes, the ticking went away and all was good.
