Fuel Sender leaking, recall?

Fuel smell in the garage after last fill up, looked underneath nothing leaking, had my Porsche mechanic check it out and found the fuel sender on drivers side rear seat leaking. Did some research I found a recall back in 2008 for this but I never received one, has anyone had a dealer repair this under recall?

I see discussions on the W211 board but nothing here.

Recall number 2008020001

I thought the fuel sender issues were only E55 related

Dealer got approval from Mercedes to cover the part and I'm paying $200 labor, this sounded fair to me.

Did you get it fixed yet?

Is the smell gone?

No, dealer asked if I can bring it in with 1/2 tank or less as they have to drop the fuel tank a bit. I'll take it next week.

I just had mine warrantied for this. Fuel was leaking so bad that it started to leak to outside the car. Filled up inside....then eventually leaked outside. That's how I really noticed the leak.

Is yours still under factory warranty or aftermarket warranty?

The original warranty expired.....since I purchased this car as a CPO.....I purchased the extra warranty from the dealer....as it was covered.

Could you guys please report your problems to the NHTSA as well? We really need them to know how many vehicles this is affecting:

URGENT: NHTSA Opens investigation into fuel leaks on the E55.

Dealer took care of entire tab, said it was a full recall, even brought it in empty and they filled up the tank, also had them align it since I go through rear tires every 4k miles. Great service at Mercedes of Fresno!

I've taken my CLS55 into the Stealership here in Honolulu, they say there is no recall. Anyone have specific info on this so I can bring it in to Mercedes? I have the leaking fuel sender, drivers side. When I look for the part, I can only find the passenger side, I've been following the posts on the E55 section about this, but wondering if anyone on our end has more info/answers???
