I know this has been covered a lot in the forums but I'm trying to plan out my upcoming build when my car sells, and I'm looking at getting Forgestar F14s in the 20" variation, that come in

20×8.5
20×9.0
20×10
20×11

As far as the best setup for an 07 CLS63, is it feasible to run 20x11s out back with a 305 tire at stock ride height? I know a lot of people do 255 out front and 285 or 295 out back.

Is 255 on a 9 inch rim and a 305 out back with an 11 inch (or would it be 10") rim feasible? Would I be looking at a 255/35/20 and a 305/30/20 on the back if I wanted to go with Michelin Pilot Super Sports?

Any suggestions are welcome as I've never really run a staggered width setup before. Thanks!

You can run a 20x11 with a 305-25-20...no problem as long as the offset is correct on the wheel.

I am running 20x9 in the front with 255-30-20 and rears with 20x11 with a 305-25-20.

Interested in seeing if a 255/35-20 front and a 305/30-20 rear will fit on the CLS55. Any insight into this would be great.

I'm running Mich PSS 245/35, 295/30 on 20x9, 20x11" at stock height. No rubbing issues, and I believe there is enough room for a 255/35 front and 305/30 rear. Those will be my next size I go with.

Ahh excellent to hear, I wish the PSS came in a 255/30 for the front but I guess it's probably better to have some more meat on the bone, though I have to say OGs car looks perfect with that sidewall thickness.

Yeah, OG's car looks great, but his is dropped... Urs WON'T look like that at stock height tho. Keep that in mind if u go w a 30 series front and 25 rear.

He's dropped the perfect height IMO, not tucked but just above tire height. I have the same issue right now where I went with 255/35/18s all around on my E550, and while it has improved the handling and look of the car, the wheel gap is more noticeable and needs to be rectified. But since it is for sale, I'm not going to do anymore work to it. So as an additional question, I have quite a bit of body roll with my E550 compared to my friend's 550i, how is it with the W219 CLS63 which is soon to be my next car? Based on driving a CLS55 which stays level under acceleration compared to the amount my E550 squats, I assume it would be quite a bit better. Are coilovers necessary for much better handling or is AMG-tuned AirMatic pretty good in your experience?

I'm no expert by any means, but it handles WAY better then anything I've driven or had. I lowered my Jag and Lex, and the ride wasnt as good and it tore my tires up fast. So I decided not to lower my CLS, that's also why I went with the thicker sidewall tire (help close the wheel gap).

Ah makes sense, thanks again. My only concern is that Michelin Pilot Super Sports don't come in 255/30 and 305/25 and I'm fearing, from looking at some pics, that it will look a little too beefy. I was also considering Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas since they are supposed to be a good summer tire and according to one of their distributors they do carry that size. Hmmm...

AMGAffalterbach, I am with you on this one brother, but honestly it won't look too beefy IMO and the more meat you have the better off you are, especially if the roads suck in your area. I really want to run 255/35-20 and 305/30-20 Michelin PSS but I'm just scared of the fit. Manofsteelpt's insight made me feel a bit better about going with those sizes, but I'm not 100% certain it'll fit.

Yeah you're probably right, and if I do spring for a nicer set of wheels it's probably best to protect them with a little more meat since potholes kill wheels in this area, as with any winter weather state. I still can't find any solid evidence for this specific setup but I know Sir-Boost-Alot's CLS had 315s out back (not sure on what wheels size) and I know 5280CLS had some wide 305s so I think they should work. OG and ManofSteelpt did make me feel better about this...

I remember reading Sir-Boost-A-Lot's thread, pretty sure he ran 255/35-20 with 315/30-20 on on Toyo R888's. He said he rubbed slightly in the front when he turned full lock and the rear tires had no issues.

You can run a 245 or 255 in the front no problem. I've run both and don't rub even when I'm driving it lowered. The 305 in the back is a must! Fits perfect and looks the best by far. You know you don't have to start a thread to ask these super easy questions young blood! I've been there...done that!

What do you have under your front bumper? Is that some sort of bumper scrape guard? Doesn't look like a front lip from that picture.

What brand tire do you run Jason? And what do you think of the Vreds for a CLS?

It's not a lip, it's a CF under the bumper type piece, lol. My car came with a CF package from MB, window sticker says $5350 option. The lil pieces under the front bumper (don't really know what to call em), side mirrors, trunk spoiler and rear diffuser like piece.
I am waiting on a CF lip from Suvneer which should be in stock in a cpl weeks.

Never rubbed the car ever....no issues.

Lowering the car is a must. As long as your wheels are forged....you shouldn't have any problems with bends. I have hit many Bay Area potholes....and upon inspection no bends thank goodness lol.

Oh okay good to know, I was thinking that with forged wheels it's probably a lot less of a problem. Your car looks perfect fitment wise!

I run 255/35/20 and 315/30/20 Toyos on 20x9 and 20x11 inch wheels. I'm not a fan of rubber band tires on heavy daily driven cars so the 35/30 profile combo gives a nicer ride and better protection from road imperfections than the 30/25 profile combo. Have fun with it whatever wheels/tires you choose!
