Newbie Needs Help

I have a 2006 M/B CLS55 AMG and have questions regarding this vehicle.

1-Recommended diagnostic tool for this vehicle.

2-How to attain a shop manual for this vehicle.

I'm usually very crafty when needing to source information about the subject. Im having a problem with clarity towards the proper tool to diagnose my car with.
I purchased software from ebay , "Mercedes WIS - ASRA + EPC EWA 2014 OEM Service Shop Repair Manual Set Combo Pack" and is not what I expected.

And I know there are cheap code readers I can purchase but I see the Benz Mb Star C3 and know there is a c4 and c5 model.

I'm at a lost about which to way to go on these to subjects, thanks for the help..

The only other resource material available is alldata. The key is a scanner. There are a number of good ones it depends whether you want MB specific or general. The Star System is excellent but will only do MB and I considered the C4. I finally settled on the SnapOn Ultra Pro scanner. It was expensive ( about 8 times the cost of a C4 ) but it does almost all systems on every domestic, foreign and exotic car in production and I've used it to diagnose and then clear transmission problems and my kids drive high end American cars, so it comes in quite handy. If you only drive/own MB get the C4.
