Why Pick a Civic When You Can Buy a Brand New ‘Benz
The next time you hear someone bragging about the new Honda Civic, tell them this: “Yeah, but for about the same amount of money you spent for a loaded model, you could’ve bought a brand new Mercedes.”
That ought to keep that Civic owner quiet for a while. Well, at least until he or she finds out that the ‘Benz is actually a cargo van. That’s according to a Yahoo story titled, “You Can Buy a Brand New Mercedes For Less Than a Loaded Civic.” Yeah, that headline even had us doing a double take.
It’s not that the Metris Worker Cargo van isn’t a great buy, it’s just not exactly the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle we’d think of. But hey, at $25,995, it is actually less expensive than a Honda Civic Touring model.
As the Yahoo report points out, you actually get a lot for that $26K, including 5,000 pounds of towing capacity, over 2,500 pounds of payload capacity, and 186 cubic-feet of cargo area. By comparison, the Civic Touring is said to seat five, but probably only four adults comfortably. So, I guess you could say it’s all a matter of perspective if the MB cargo van wins over the Honda.
