Modified Mercedes-AMG CLA Might Rattle Purists
While Mercedes fans might be divided on the mods, you have to appreciate its execution, highlighted in short film.
When we spotted this film by Woyshnis Media, we knew some people might have a strong reaction. The film is beautifully shot, and features a Mercedes-AMG CLA owned by automotive personality Mad CLA.
So, let’s take a look at this car, and break down some of customization choices and modifications that might spark some opinions.
First, the car has been dropped, slammed, stanced, and some negative camber. Now we know that wheel offsets can get some people a little heated. But we do think that Mad CLA has done his thoughtfully, and with ride quality and performance in mind. So overall, we think this works. It’s lower, but not too low. It’s doing camber effectively. And, it still retains the Mercedes-AMG style.
Mad CLA has forged Avant Garde wheels with Toyo tires. We think these look sharp, and come from two solid and reliable companies. Our verdict? A mod done right.
So the custom head lights….Well, we appreciate the effort to add some personal touches and expression to his ride, but we’re on the fence here. We’d like to get a sense of how effective these lights work.
The CLA is blending the aesthetic of the traditional German luxury car with style elements from the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). We don’t have a problem with that, your car is frequently a means of self-expression. And we think the JDM-inspired styling works pretty seamlessly with the Mercedes perspective.
Ultimately, it might not be everyone’s cup of Merc, but it has a unique point-of-view, and is still a high quality performance machine. The film shows this car still rocks some serious AMG power and rides smooth as butter.
