Mercedes-Benz Host First-ever Virtual Concours Exhibit

Merceedes-Benz Concours de Zoom

Featuring famous owners like Jay Leno and Martha Stewart, Mercedes’ Concours de Zoom benefited the American Red Cross.

Aside from a few rolling car show parades in your neighborhood, the show scene is as quiet as a mouse. The big new-car shows, like Geneva and Paris, are cancelled for 2020, as are major events like the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach. It’s a rough time for Mercedes fans, to be sure.

Yet, there are glimmers of hope in the silence. Recently, The Robb Report reported Mercedes-Benz itself would host its first-ever virtual concours on the hottest conferencing app around, Zoom.

Ludacris and His Mercedes

Held May 1, the “Concours de Zoom” not only gave Mercedes the chance to present some of its latest and greatest, but it also featured plenty of celebrity owners. Some of the big names to turn out include Jay Leno, Ludacris, and Martha Stewart.

Alas, footage of the virtual concours wasn’t uploaded or saved anywhere we’re aware of. Thus, we’ll have to make do with what the celebs likely brought to the party. For example, Luda — who still has his Acura Legend from the start of his career — showed off his black AMG GT on his Instagram recently, and probably at the concours, too.

Jay Leno's Gullwing

Meanwhile, Leno likely brought the house down with this red ’55 300 SL Gullwing. The car is only one of several Benzes in his possession, which include a 72′ 600 Kompressor, a ’72 300 SEL 6.3, and a ’32 SSKL.

Martha Stewart and Her Mercedes

And of course, Stewart said on her Instagram she would show off her new GLS 550 at the Mercedes Concours de Zoom. The SUV is perfect for handling whatever she needs for any given day.

Mercedes itself showed off a rare ride of its own, a 1956 300 SL Gullwing. The car is one of many Mercedes-Benz Classic Center restored over the years, including a ’54 model, and another they took out to a few classic car rallies in the past couple of years.

At the end of the virtual concours, Mercedes made a donation on behalf of the participants to the American Red Cross.

While virtual car shows are filling a void right now, we look forward to the day when we can see Benzes in person once more.
