Renntech Mercedes-AMG GT63 Churns Out 1,200 HP, Runs 9-Second Quarter
The Renntech Mercedes-AMG GT63 RIIIx package transforms the sporty four-door into a world-beating performance machine.
The Mercedes-AMG GT63 is a formidable machine straight from the factory, largely thanks to its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter M177 V8, which produces a stout 681 horsepower and 736 pound-feet of torque. However, for some, a lot is never enough, and that’s precisely why outfits like Renntech exist – to take high performance machines to the literal next level. That’s precisely the case with the brand new Renntech Mercedes-AMG G63 RIIIx, which cranks the stylish, powerful coupe up more than a few notches.
The heart of this already-beastly machine is still in place, but it’s been fortified in a big way with an ECU upgrade, Stage II turbochargers, stainless steel downpipes, an upgraded fuel system, stainless steel mufflers, a carbon fiber intake, a Powertrain Control Unit (CPC) upgrade, BMW air filters, an exhaust valve module, and a bigger intercooler, all of which lifts output to an astounding 1,196 horsepower and 972 pound-feet of torque on 100-octane fuel.
As one might imagine, that extra juice also makes the Renntech Mercedes-AMG GT63 one heck of a straight-line maven, with 0-60 taking a mere 2.44 seconds to reach, while the four-door “coupe” will also trip the lights in the quarter-mile in just 9.9 seconds – impressive numbers by any measure. To help slow it down, Renntech also adds its full brake upgrade, along with a set of its own Performance Series I forged wheels that are available in 48 different colors.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a Renntech product without an array of visual/aero upgrades, and the RIIIx delivers in that regard as well. The four-door has been treated to the company’s Aero 1 package, which includes a front splitter and canards, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a massive rear wing, all of which is made from carbon fiber and designed to increase downforce and help the GT63 slice through the air more efficiently.
A truly amazing and comprehensive package, the Renntech Mercedes-AMG RIIIx is obviously an enticing offering, but as one might have guessed by now, it isn’t cheap. Pricing starts out at $94,980, not including the donor car, which is a lot of dough. But if you want a comfy machine that’s capable of taking down supercars and hauling the family around in comfort, it’s one of the few vehicles out there that can do pretty much everything well.
