Posaidon Mercedes S63 AMG Pushes Insane 1,000 HP Mark
Tuning company Posaidon promises as much as in excess of 1,000 hp for the big Mercedes Coupé.
Horsepower freaks pay attention — specialist Mercedes-AMG tuners Posaidon has rolled out a series of kits for the S 63 4Matic + Coupé to push the biturbo V8 as far as the other side of a thousand horsepower via four stages of tuning.
The basic $ 36,250 Posaidon S 63 gains high-performance ball bearing turbochargers, a sports air filter and tuned exhaust downpipes with sport catalysts. Add adapted transmission and drivetrain control units to deliver a feisty 880 hp and 885 lb-ft. According to Posaidon, that propels the 2.2-ton coupé to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Fitted with the appropriate speed-rated tires, this mad S will top 220 mph and comes with full type approval in Germany.
Posaidon will relieve you of $ 63,000 to squeeze another tenth of a second out of that 0-60 time. With stage two conversion. That entails a little extra work to the AMG lump’s cylinder head ports and some valve seat tricks. The tuner also adds a water-methanol injection system along with an additional tank, if required. That sees the S 63’s biturbo V8 to 940 hp and 945 lb-ft.
Enough already? Not for Posaidon it seems. The company has already confirmed a 1,000-horse version and it tells us that we should watch this space for details. We wait for that one with bated breath.
If 30 of sixty grand seems too rich for you, we have good news for you. Posaidon also offers a 700 hp 700 lb-ft software-only tuning kit for the four-liter V8 biturbo at just $ 5,000. That will see your AMG S 63 4Matic Coupé to 60 mph in in 3.2 seconds. And a top speed of 295 mph. Now that seems a proper value for money option.
Posaidon offers its tuning packages for all M177 biturbo V8 powered AMGs, as well as the GT models’ M178 V8.
