The Mercedes-AMG GT R and Marauder AMG Cigarette Racing Boat: When Millionaire Plaboys Desire the Best for Land and Water

Like most high-end brands, Mercedes-Benz has a tradition of pairing their vehicles with other equally-exclusive and capable machinery. That’s true for airplanes, timepieces, and, of course, boats. 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and the Cigarette Racing Team. Therefore, they’ve created a new, and very special machine. Say hello to the 3,100-horsepower Cigarette Racing Team 50′ Marauder-AMG boat.

AMG Boat

Cigarette Racing already represents the most capable and technologically-advanced boats in the industry. But this new edition has taken things to a whole new level. Carbon fiber is used extensively in order to shed over 1,300 pounds of unnecessary weight. That’s nearly the weight of a 2017 Smart Fortwo. Furthermore, vacuum infusion technology has been deployed to create lighter and stronger carbon fiber panels. They even created a completely new electrical system with smaller and lighter components.

The Marauder AMG was just displayed at the 2017 Miami Boat Show, along with the Mercedes-AMG GTR in Green Hell Magno. The boat sports a pair of Mercury Racing 1550/1350 Quad Cam 4-valve engines, and M8 stern drives, delivering up to 3,100 hp. Interestingly, two different keys can be utilized, depending on the performance desired. A pleasure key fob allows for only 1,350 horsepower per engine, while the race key fob unlocks all 1,550.

“The 2017 50′ Marauder AMG is a particularly striking result of our continued collaboration with the Cigarette Racing Team, and a fitting tribute to honor 10 years of working together,” said Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer for Daimler AG. “One racing icon has inspired another, and we are proud to continue to set the benchmark, and seamlessly combine design and performance, both on land and on the sea.”
