Mercedes-Benz has recently entered not one, not two, but three SLS AMG GT3s in the 24-hour race in Dubai, which will be held on January 14, 2011. It will mark the last leg of testing for the gullwing’s racing model. The trio will race under customer teams Heico Motorsport as well as Black Falcon.

Heico Motorsport is entering one SLS AMG GT3 under car number 9,
while Black Falcon will enter two (numbers 7 and 8). With the 24-hour
race in the United Arab Emirates hotspot of Dubai, the SLS AMG GT3 will
get some much-needed test mileage that will contribute to fine-tuning
the vehicle before it starts delivery sometime around the end of
February next year. The GT3 is expected to fetch a whopping € 334,000
(over $440,000).

The race will be held at the Dubai Autodrome’s Grand Prix Circuit,
where some 90 cars are expected to participate. The long-distance
competition has drawn teams and drivers that hail from over 30
countries.

While the SLS AMG GT3 is a bit out of the price range of most people,
those who are in the AMG Driving Academy Masters level customers can
get behind the wheel of one of these beasts at selected events.
