Lexus V8 Finds a Home in 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D Truck Bed

Mercedes-Benz is working on building a pickup truck. That is a fact, at this point, and it will be created with the help of a Nissan partnership. M-B has had plenty of trucks, as y’all surely know, but a personal pickup, not so much. And when there is a gap in production, there’s likely somebody, somewhere out there in this funky world, who will try to fill it.

This oddball vehicle you see here is a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D ute with … wait for it … a useless truck bed, because there’s a V8 sourced from a Lexus back there, all up in ‘dat booty.

The last time this Benz truck was spotted was when it was up for sale in South Africa back in 2014, so there’s no word on what its actual status is right now. But it’s safe to say the $7,000 it was selling for back then was likely worth the purchase. Just for the reason that you can say you have the damn thing.
