AMG Finishes 2019 with a Buzzworthy Teaser of a New GT

AMG sent out a great thank you to its performance-minded employees and slipped in our first look at the GT73 AMG.

AMG has an awesome message for their employees. To wrap up a great year filled with turbochargers and high speed, AMG made this excellent video. The video starts with quick shots of race tracks and AMG models being driven at speed with the script, “This is for our AMG team. THANK YOU.” Names of employees flash quickly on the screen with the AMGs as well. “You are great. Fantastic.” the script continues. AMG then gets right to the point, saying “You are kick-ass. Insane. Don’t stop.” The Video concludes with, “Together we define the future of performance.” In all it’s a really neat video showcasing the road cars, hypercars and race cars made by AMG.

GT73 AMG

AMG’s year was nothing short of sensational. In Formula 1, they clinched the manufacturer title again, now six times in a row. As an engine manufacturer, AMG has accumulated eight championships, and Lewis Hamilton continued his amazing streak of success with his sixth world championship. AMG has also made great progress on the AMG ONE which is getting closer and closer to reality. AMG’s sales have been going up and models like the A45 AMG have been setting records in terms of power output per displacement. AMG isn’t slowing down at all.

GT73 AMG

AMG specifically knew how they were going to end this video, it seems. The final car in the video? A lightly camouflage AMG GT 4-door accelerating away in silence. It leads us to believe this is our first look at AMG’s upcoming GT73 AMG. Considering that we reported electric motors would be added to existing power units, 800 horsepower is very possible. Combined torque would be astronomical. It will, however need to be quite clever. The GT 4-door is already a heavy car, and adding a plug-in hybrid powertrain is only going to elevate this car’s heft. Then again, its one of few AMG models that are large enough to experiment with the viability of plug-in hybrids as part of AMG’s future.
