“Auto Express” Calls the C63 S Edition 1 a Modern-Day Hot Rod

The Mercedes-AMG C63 S Edition 1 is instantly recognizable as a special edition. AMGs are already incredibly sultry machines, but it’s extremely rare that you see one come out of the factory with yellow-rimmed wheels, massive block stripes, and matching yellow mirror accents and brake calipers. AMG Sport stripes are available as customizable options, but there wasn’t a package like this (save for the other Edition 1s on the CLA45 and the A45).

DTM coloring, which also shows up in the cabin, is only part of the upgrade. The car also has extra aero in the form of a new front spoiler, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler. Inside, the car has double stitching, quilted Nappa leather, and suede touch surfaces. That’s pretty much all the Edition 1 is, an aesthetic package. But for the $77,000 that the car in the video below costs, you still get the C63 S’ 4.0-liter biturbo V8 that puts out 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Auto Express presenter Steve Stutcliffe says, “this thing is an utter, utter weapon.”  But he makes clear that it’s not a track-specific car because of how beautifully it rides. See what other nice things he has to say about the rarefied C Coupé below.
