Brabus Introduces 800 Package for Mercedes-AMG GLS 63

Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 S- based Brabus makes its debut with an 800 HP 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant.

Prolific Mercedes tuner Brabus is on quite a roll right now. The company recently introduced its Brabus 800 package for the AMG E63 S sedan and wagon. Now, the Bottrop, Germany-based tuning brand has put Merc’s flagship SUV through a similar treatment. Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is the latest model to join Brabus’ product portfolio.

High-riding models are some of the best-selling body types in the market right now, and there is a huge demand for super SUVs, crossovers, and pickup trucks. Brabus 800 GLS 63 S is probably the sportiest avatar of the nameplate yet. The car’s styling further helps highlights its sporty vibe. The SUV sports a murdered-out all-black paint job and rides on Brabus Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” 23-inch alloy wheels.

The rims have been glazed in shadow chrome and sport an all-black polished finish that matches the SUV’s paint job. The alloys are wrapped in 295/35 high-performance Continental tires. The tuner has swapped Merc’s Tristar badge with the Brabus Double B logo, and we also find illuminated Brabus badging adorning the SUV’s exterior. The front-end features a blacked-out carbon grille which is contrasted by the company’s red signature stripes.

The grille sits atop a carbon Ram air intake and an add-on front spoiler, which is also made of carbon fiber. The carbon treatment continues at the rear, and we find a carbon rear diffuser that houses the tips of Brabus’ valve-controlled exhaust system. Almost every interior surface is wrapped in Brabus fine leather and flaunts carbon fiber accents. The interior upgrade also includes black velour mats and aluminum pedal pads.

Brabus also re-tuned the powerplant so that this three-row SUV can live up to the performance standards that earned the German turner its notoriety. The company achieved this by installing BRABUS PowerXtra B40S-800 upgrade, which the tuner claims adds 188 HP to the overall power output.

According to the company, the re-tuned powerplant now produces 800 HP of maximum power and around 738 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to all four corners, and Brabus claims that this luxurious SUV can hit the 62 mph mark from a complete standstill in just 3.8 seconds.
