Car Collector Has 5 SLR McLarens in His Garage. You Read That Right.
Real estate investor Manny Khoshbin is perhaps the luckiest man in the world with multiple, low-mileage units of one insanely-rare car.
Powering the SLR McLaren is a 5.4-liter supercharged engine, which generates 626 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. As its name indicates, Mercedes developed the SLR in association with McLaren. In the early 2000s, Mercedes and McLaren were partners in Formula One.
Real estate investor, author and car collector Manny Khoshbin is an avid admirer of the SLR McLaren’s performance and history, and for that reason, he owns five units of the supercar. “When you drive this car, you feel that weight on the front. That’s a really different feel from any of the other supercars that I [own],” he says.
“[The SLR McLaren also] represents great value. I look at these exotic cars like art, similar to how I look at the properties that I purchase. And [SLR McLarens] are being really unappreciated at the moment. The [Porsche] Carrera GT, [the Ferrari] Enzo and the SLR came around at the same time … and we know what happened to the values of the Carrera GT and the Enzo. But these have not [yet] taken off.”
Indeed, the Mercedes-Benz McLaren was launched in 2003. Meanwhile, Ferrari launched the Enzo in 2002 and Porsche launched the Carrera GT in 2003. Additionally, the three cars have comparable performance specifications on paper.
There are a lot of car collectors out there with a massive collection of rare cars. However, we can’t express how envious we are that there is someone out that actually owns five of these gorgeous works of art. Most of us would probably kill to own even one of these.
