E55 AMG W211 with 481 Wheel-horsepower Is the Perfect Luxury Sport Sedan
Elegance and power in one cohesive package? The E55 AMG excels at more things than one with a few simple mods.
There are only so many cars that we would describe as being James Bond villian getaway cars. The Mercedes-Benz W211 E55 AMG would without a doubt be within that category. There’s something about the way the car is designed that gives it a high level of class and elegance, but somehow still a bit evil and sinister. These more aggressive values definitely become much more prevalent once the car receives a couple of modifications. With some tinted windows, blacked out wheels and grills and a nice lip or spoiler, the E55 really shines and comes out of its shell.
Considering how cool the car looks with these mods, you might think it was enough. However, the E55 is so much more than just a handsome design. Let’s not forget about the supercharged V8 under the hood, which made 468 HP and 516 lb/ft back in the early 2000’s. That’s a hell of a lot of power to go with such a good design. However, what happens when you take the next step and make the E55 even faster? Thanks to TheSmokingTire on YouTube, we get to learn more about this wonderful car.
The owner of this car is Mike Karapetian, a long time Mercedes enthusiast who now currently owns a 2013 E63 AMG and a 2007 E550. He first came across this 2006 E55 when looking for a clean example. He said the car was bone stock and in great condition. He instantly fell in love with the car and has said it was very reliable, only having an airbag and the seat air pump go out during his ownership of the vehicle. Other than that it has been strictly maintenance.
Obviously, Karapetian could only last so long before finding the allure of tinkering with that amazing V8 under the hood. It now has a host of mods including a 76mm supercharger pulley, dual intakes, headers, and a full exhaust. When the car was tuned it dynoed at 481 WHP and 556 WTQ. If that isn’t enough power for your sedan, we don’t know what is. Once you hear the throaty, bass-heavy sound that this AMG makes when full throttle, you’ll wonder why you don’t have one in your garage.
