G500 4x4

Is the G500 too soft for you? Does it feel like it needs a little bit more off-road prowess? Well thankfully, the G500 4×4 is here to fix all of those problems. Using technology from the 6×6, as well as the Unimog, this is the ultimate version of the G-Wagen if you’re looking for one that only has four wheels.

Using portal axles — which essentially use a geared hub and a reverse-direction half shaft — the G500 4×4’s ground clearance is more than doubled from what you get on the standard version. You also get a wider track to keep things planted firmly. And all of this is powered by the new 4.0 twin turbo V8 that’ll be found in quite a few other cars in the Mercedes showroom.

Pricing of the G500 4×4 will keep ownership quite exclusive. It’s going to start at over $200,000, but I’m pretty sure the folks willing to dole out the cash for something this imposing won’t mind. They most likely want it for the image boost anyway, and to laugh at their neighbor’s sparkly clean Land Rover.
