Sometimes, it can be pretty interesting to see automobile manufacturers that fuse some of the things they are known for. In Mercedes-Benz’s case, that’s powerful luxury cars like the SLS AMG and reliable commercial vehicles like the Sprinter van. Now comes a vehicle that will fuse functionality and luxury: the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Grand Edition.

The Sprinter is known mostly for being a delivery van, from couriers
like DHL to ice cream companies such as Haagen-Dazs. It’s different with
this new Grand Edition, which is more like a luxury mobile office
space. The custom-build trim contains deluxe captain’s chairs, a couple
of 32-inch LCD TVs, an audio amplifier, a sliding sofa refrigerator, a
dashboard with a 6.5-inch display with GPS navigation, and a wireless
router for Internet access among a long, long list of other interior
furnishings.

The exterior, on the other hand, includes such features as 16-inch
aluminum wheel, light and rain sensors, an electrically-heated
windshield and a control pad equipped security system. The list of
features goes on and on. It’s like the private jet of commercial
vehicles.

The Sprinter Grand Edition is an exclusive model sold only at the
Mercedes-Benz Manhattan dealership, and sales representative Vincent
Varga has said that there were already 4 units sold a week before
Christmas. “Some people call it the stand-up Maybach,” Varga said. At
$189,850 apiece, it certainly could be.
