Last Maybach G650 Landaulet Sells for $1.42 Million at Auction
Sadly, all that luxury and muscle will probably never see an ounce of dirt.
Earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, Maybach announced they were entering the SUV world with the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet. At that time, they announced that 99 units were going into production, and 98 of them were already sold. So what was going to happen to the 99th vehicle?
Apparently, the plan was to auction it off for charity. Bonhams’ “The Zoute Sale” recently took place in Belgium, and the highlight was the beautiful SUV. And when we say this SUV is beautiful, trust us, it’s amazing. We’re not the only ones to hold it in such high esteem.
An unknown lucky Belgian purchased the Landaulet for a whopping $1.42 million. That cash is going to Laureus Sport for Good, a charity organization that partners with Mercedes-Benz globally. They help young people overcome violence, discrimination, and disadvantage through sports.
Featuring a retractable soft-top for rear passengers, the G650 may look like a rough and tumble SUV (and it is), but inside, it’s all luxury. There’s a glass partition between front and rear, which can be tinted if needed. The rear seats are from the Maybach S-Class, which means massage functionality and that amazing diamond-weave leather.

Under the hood, the G650 Landaulet sports a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that puts out a whopping 621 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Let’s be real, all this power, including the 4-wheel drive system, will probably go to waste in an ultra-luxury vehicle like this. There’s no way we’ll see any of these 99 beasts off-roading any time soon.
But there’s another reason we won’t see this vehicle on the streets. With the last one going to someone in Belgium, it was confirmed that exactly zero of them were sold to anyone in the United States. So, unless we plan on hunting down the 99 SUVs in Europe, the best we can do is stare at these pictures.
