Limited-Run 1,000-HP Supercar Speedster Promises to Be an Even Wilder SLR Stirling Moss
Engler Automotive took the already-bonkers SLR Stirling Moss to a new level with striking style and just 75 units.
What’s the natural progression for Engler Automotive, the brand behind a 1,200-horsepower, V12-powered “SuperQuad?” It’s an even wilder version of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. Now, the SLR Stirling Moss is itself a special edition roadster tribute to legendary racer Sir Stirling Moss’s 1955 Mille Miglia-winning car.
Like Sir Moss’s winning mount, the Mercedes-Benz-badged SLR McLaren Stirling Moss was an open-top silver performance machine. However, Engler’s MOSSLR promises to take the SLR McLaren special edition car to another level of lunacy, including nearly 1,000 horsepower from a V8 performance model.

Should Engler go through with production and sales, the MOSSLR will be just 75 units. Sound familiar? It’s the same 75-unit limitation as the now 16-year-old SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. But unlike the Engler iteration, sales won’t likely be reserved for SLR McLaren owners.
At a glance, the Engler MOSSLR looks the part. Namely, like a modern take on the SLR Stirling Moss. It’s an open-top, two-seat roadster supercar with flared arches, modern-art proportions, and a wide-mouth grille. However, unlike the SLR Stirling Moss, the MOSSLR takes a more contemporary aesthetic approach to tributary styling.
An all-too-concept-like front end stretches back and splits into two open and muscular wheel arches. Sculpted mirrors, a tiny windscreen, and buttressed bodywork around the doors are reminiscent of a cutting-edge concert hall. Out back, the MOSSLR wears two small, connected wings and a swooping lightbar not unlike the McLaren P1. This car is a looker.

Engler’s MOSSLR: 986 horsepower, 3 Different Engine Options
Under the expansive hood, the Engler MOSSLR offers three powerplant options. The first is a 740-horsepower V8, not far off from the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss’s 641-horsepower output. As odd as it sounds, the top trim is a V12, though it produces less power than the V8 Performance model in the mid offering.
As it stands, the V12-powered model will produce 838 horsepower, and the upper-tier V8 will push the MOSSLR to around 217 mph with a 986-horsepower V8. Sourcing for the engines isn’t clear. But the pricing could be as steep as $900,000 for the top offerings.
