Artist Rendering Shows What an AMG Pickup Would Look Like

X63 AMG

What if AMG made an X63 utility truck? Could the Ford Raptor soon face some competition from Affalterbach?

When it comes to daydreams, and AMG’s complete proliferation into the entire Mercedes lineup, we got to thinking about one vehicle they might not have touched yet; the X-class. Already on sale in Europe for a number of years, this M-B surprisingly never made it to the states. But if it wanted to make one heck of an entrance, an X63 AMG be sure to do it. As well, it would be endlessly compared to Ford’s F150 Raptor super-truck.

How would AMG go about this? We tapped our artist to come up with a quick rendering, and we think they could have two distinct options for the possible X63. One more focused on off-road capabilities and compete against the aforementioned Ford, or like the G65 AMG, be suited more towards just the paved stuff.

We think AMG would go for the latter, because trying to squeeze in portal axles and all the heavy-duty off-road hardware from models like the 4×4 Squared would be a bit of a challenge. Not like that’s stopped them before. However, making it capable on-road would seem like perhaps less of a challenge, and surely AMG would be out to set some sort of un-reachable Nurburgring lap time with the fastest production pickup.

Think about it; powered by the E63’s twin turbo V8, the X63 would make 603 horsepower. It wouldn’t upset the apple cart of performance, because it would pay the penalty of weight, coming in at around 5000 lbs. Big wheels and tires would house equally big brakes, and if AMG were truly mad, put the first set of carbon ceramic brakes on a production pickup. If they went even further down the spiral, they could make a X63 AMG Black… OK, we’re getting carried away.

For right now though, our dreams are just that; dreams. Amazingly, the U.S. doesn’t even get to enjoy the X-class, which you’d think would potentially be a great, albeit tough market for the pickup.
