Mercedes 300SL Fleet Flocks to San Marino Motor Classic Show
Actor Adam Carolla also showcased 10 of legendary racer Paul Newman’s cars at the June 10 event in California.
Mercedes vehicles from years past were on proud display at the San Marina Motor Classic in San Marino, California, on June 10 as part of the show’s eighth annual event. Part car show, part charity fundraiser, this classic car show had 357 cars in total. Pre-war and classic cars had a strong showing but there was still plenty to look at, and a few special displays.
Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadsters were the name of the game for our favorite brand. Pagoda roof and no roof SL varieties were on display, right along side several iconic 300SL Gullwings, and 190 SL roadsters.
Adam Carolla’s ‘Paul Newman Collection’
Comedy Central’s Adam Carolla (pictured with the blue baseball cap) gave everyone a special treat by showcasing his collection of iconic race cars once piloted and owned by the world-renowned actor and race car driver Paul Newman. As part of Carolla’s ongoing accumulation, this series of IMSA racing Nissans and Le Mans Porsches was a treat to see. Interestingly, his collection spans Newman’s entire professional racing career—from a humble Nissan 200SX to the fire-breathing IMSA GT 280 SX. Carolla also brought an early Lamborghini Miura SV and a one-of-one 1965 Lamborghini 350 GT.
“Between the amazing selection of cars and this stunning location, I’m not sure it gets much better,” said Aaron Weiss, event chairman and co-founder of the San Marino Motor Classic, in a recent press statement. “The Paul Newman race car feature class engaged spectators young and old – it was striking to see all of them on the lawn and made the event extra special.”
Although no top award trophies were given to any Benzes this year, nearly 100 out of the 357 cars earned class honors. Best of all, the show gathered more than $300,000 dollars in donations for local Humane Society and SPCA charities.
