Mercedes-AMG Hypercar With Formula 1 Engine Could Be in the Works

Most here have probably already heard about that new Hypercar that Mercedes is rumored to be working on with a Formula 1 engine. Bananas, right? Well, now we’re hearing even more exciting developments about the possible new rocket ship.

First of all, don’t get too excited about the look in that photo above, which was used as a visual for a recent Road & Track story about the potential hypercar. It’s actually a pic of the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept car that debuted in 2013.

But hey, let’s not get sidetracked by the small stuff, because it’s clear that the beauty of this much-buzzed-about potential production model will lie in the car’s performance technology. According to the report, the new hypercar will be equipped with Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 racing engine: a 700-horsepower turbocharged V6, paired with three electric motors.

Still, that not the most impressive rumored tech feature. The car will supposedly pack a “bio-metric driver control system” that will enable the car to read the driver’s physical inputs in real time, then custom-tailor the vehicle’s various systems for the driver.

Yup, about the only thing not to like about this bit of news is the wait for the car, though sources say it could debut as early as next year for AMG’s 50th birthday.
