Mercedes-Benz recently uploaded yet another teaser video showcasing the Project One hypercar which will feature an F1-derived hybrid powertrain.

The Tri-star brand is going through many changes right now. Daimler was recently restructured, as a result of which Merc’s parent company was renamed as Mercedes-Benz. The German automaker claims that its rebranding is part of a strategy to enhance the potential of its businesses in an electrified zero-emissions future.

Nevertheless, this is quite a big change for the luxury car company, but it is business as usual when it comes to Mercedes-AMG’s Project One hypercar. We were first introduced to Mercedes-AMG One back in 2017 when the company announced that its F1-derived performance machine will “soon” hit the road.

Almost three and a half years later, the German car manufacturer is still teasing the much-awaited hybrid offering. Mercedes-Benz recently uploaded yet another teaser video showcasing the Project One hypercar. In the video, the company describes Project One as “unmeasured, unrivaled, unreal”, and the hybrid hypercar is seen making runs around a racetrack while sporting livery with black and red accents.

The car in the video looks like a production-ready prototype, and the company also touts the introduction of AMG’s E Performance brand toward the end of the clip. Mercedes-AMG One will share its hybrid powertrain with Lewis Hamilton’s 2015 F1-winning Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid race car. The video also offers a brief glimpse of AMG One’s active aerodynamics in action, as it tries to keep up with the car’s performance, which is quite a daunting undertaking.

Even though Mercedes has not disclosed the official power figures of AMG One, the F1-tuned hybrid drivetrain of the car is expected to produce around 1200 HP of combined power. The hybrid powertrain of Project One features a turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 gasoline engine, which is mated to four electric motors.

The car’s powertrain is a technological masterpiece that requires a lot of maintenance, including complete powertrain rebuilds every 31,069 miles (50,000 kilometers). Mercedes will only produce 275 units of Project One, and even with an exorbitant price tag of $2.7 million; every unit of the hybrid hypercar has already been sold. Deliveries of the Mercedes-AMG One are expected to start later in the year.
