I know, I know, another crossover. But as abhorrent of a market segment the GLA operates within, there’s a couple things that come to mind for me. The class is indisputably important for MB if they plan to compete with Audi and BMW for volumes sales in the US market, and dare I say, the GLA doesn’t look half bad from certain angles (the side profile and proportions seem to be taken almost exactly from Infiniti’s book).

Though the little crossover hatch is still in pre-production stages (with a European debut within a few months), Car and Driver’s editors were allowed a sneak peek into the GLA’s driving experience by riding shotgun with Mercedes engineers for two days for the final development testing rounds near Barcelona.

C&D’s editors appeared impressed with the driving dynamics of the CLA shared underpinnings of the GLA. They hadn’t noticed much body roll and reported a stiff, spirited ride. But of course, we can expect those dynamics to be softened up as the GLA comes to the US shores no earlier than next year.

If the CLA’s selling prowess is any indicator for its taller, hatchier cousin, we can expect the GLA to be one of MB’s best selling North American models of all time. Read more at Car and Driver!
