Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Abandoned

This SLR McLaren Has Been Left Abandoned in the Czech Republic Since 2011. Can It Be Saved?

Imagine walking through some grassy field and stumbling upon a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, sitting all alone in the weeds.

Of course, since that grassy area is a storage location for items seized by police in the Czech Republic, perhaps it might just be par for the course.

After all, some of the car seizure tactics used by authorities in the central European country appear to be pretty no-holds-barred. That’s certainly the case if the video clip below is any indication. Dramatized by a heavy metal soundtrack, it depicts Czech Republic police in action during a 2012 car seizure.

Luckily, it appears that a bit more care was taken with this Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. But even more disheartening, the car has been sitting at a Czech Republic police complex since 2011. Even wilder, the car could very well sit there for a few more years, until police sort through an inquiry. It involves a leasing company theft tied to the 617-horsepower supercar.

What a shame. It almost seems like it’s staring at us, crying out for help, right?

Still, it would probably take a lot of work to get this thing back up and rolling. After nearly six years of sitting in a field, the car’s electronic system has probably taken a brutal beating. And according to CarScoops, even if a Mercedes fan made a desperate plea to the authorities to save the SLR, it’d have to go through an auction process first.

So, perhaps the best we can hope for is that the SLR gets released by Czech Republic authorities sooner, rather than seven-years later.
