Mercedes-Maybach GLS Rendered As a Unique Minivan

Virtual artist on Instagram recently visualized what Mercedes-Maybach GLS would look like as a Pullman-style model.

The Mercedes Pullman models have been around for decades. Originally produced between 1963 and 1981, these ultra-luxury cars offered the perfect balance of power and opulence. Down the line, Mercedes-Maybach even revived the nameplate for its S 600-series Pullman range. It might be a while before we get to see the next installment of the S-Class Pullman, but Instagram handle @superrenderscars recently offered us a glimpse into a very special Pullman model.

Digital artist @superrenderscars decided to reimagine the all-new Mercedes-Maybach GLS as a six-door model, and the result is an unusual-looking minivan. For years, the engineers and designers at the Tri-Star Brand have used the original Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman as the inspiration to toy with the idea of luxurious 4/6-door models. In fact, these models played a key role in shaping Mercedes-Maybach into the brand we know today. Even though Mercedes may release an all-new S-Class Pullman in the coming years, we do not expect Z223’s successor to make its debut anytime soon.

This is also why we cannot help but wonder that things might have been a lot different if @superrenderscars had played it safe and used the latest W223 Mercedes S-Class instead of the GLS. In our humble opinion, we don’t think this 6-door Maybach GLS really makes the cut when it comes to rubbing shoulders with iconic Maybach models with their timeless designs. Slapping an extra pair of doors on the Maybach GLS makes it look awkward. Even though the digital artist did a great job of tying the ensemble together, the rendering grabs your attention for all the wrong reasons.

Fortunately, Mercedes will never put this design into production. This is also not the first time that @superrenderscars has released a hysterical illustration. If you think this is a weird design, do check out @superrenderscars’ version of the Ford Raptor-based van, a quirky Challenger pick-up, and the exceptionally low Mercedes-Benz G-Class G 63 AMG paired with a turret (not sure of the target audience here!). Despite the lunacy of these designs, @superrenderscars is a very talented artist who has a wild imagination that occasionally manages to get a chuckle out of us.
