Mercedes 540K Sold for $9.68M in Monterey

The RM Auction that happened in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California last weekend featured the Mercedes-Benz vehicles as the stars of the show. The vehicles were sold to high amount as expected, especially the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster.

The car, which sold for a whopping $9.68M was made in 1937 in
Sindelfingen and had a price of $12,000 back then. This particular Mercedes
540K Special Roadster, according to its papers, was delivered on January
5,1937 to an industrialist in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For years, the
car dominated in the market and it proved to be one of the most
beautiful and most revered car in the world war era.

Other roadsters that sold for big money at the auction include the 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K, which was sold for $4.62M, and a 1936 coupe was sold for $3,080,000.
