MotorTrend Does a Hot Lap With the New C63 S AMG

Every year, the internet gets all flummoxed about what’s the best car of the year. Everyone becomes an expert, and no matter what you say, 99% of the commenters think you’re wrong, most of whom reside in their mother’s basement, still without a driver’s license.

However, the most intense scrutiny and terrible commenters usually revolve around MotorTrend’s Best Driver’s Car competition. The magazine pits a handful of the best performance cars the company has tested throughout the year, and they have a massive showdown with a little help from Pro racing driver, Randy Pobst.

This year, one of the new contenders just happens to be Mercedes’ all new AMG C63 S. As a lead up to the competition, Motortrend just released the video below: Pobst’s quick hot-lap around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Suffice it to say, Randy is insanely quick with the purpose-built, tire-destroying drift machine that is the C63 S.

We’ll definitely be paying attention as the competition heats up for Best Driver’s Car of the year. Apparently the heat was already enough for the Corvette C7 Z06 though, as that car failed to finished.
