Russian Enthusiast Builds His Own Amazing 6×6!

By -

If you can’t buy one from Mercedes-Benz, just construct one yourself.

When you want to buy a 6×6 but Mercedes is in short supply, you do the next reasonable thing—make your own. At least that’s what we gathered from this awesome video, above, from a Russian enthusiast.

This off-roader didn’t start with three axles. Actually, the whole rig is based on an old G-wagon and is diesel-powered. Everything from the added truck bed to the wheel arches to the roof lights are part of this build, but open the door and you’ll see an interior from yesteryear. Custom interior touches assist in off-road adventures, which is what this car seems purpose-built for. A good majority of the video includes snow driving in the woods, with every single kind of obstacle thrown at it. It’s no surprise that it dispatches with them quite easily.

6x6 Russian custom

Honestly, the most impressive part is that from the outside, it does look like a very faithful reproduction of an AMG 6×6. It even has portal axles, which makes all the under-carriage action shots something to really admire. Only the smaller details will you notice that this one isn’t like the other 6×6’s.

Let us be clear, the fact that this one doesn’t have an AMG engine isn’t a bad thing at all. Having a diesel engine actually makes it cooler to us. We just wish it was a diesel with a bit of that AMG lunacy (i.e. torque that would rotate the earth). Now if only we could get some custom fabricators to do the same with older G-wagons here in the states!
