Supercars Sing and Roast Tires in Monaco

Exotics and high-end luxury cars put on an impromptu show in Monaco harbor-side tunnel.

Monaco is one of the true meccas of supercar spotting in the world. The minuscule country on the Mediterranean coast remains one of the most glamorous destinations in the world. With swanky casinos and luxury everywhere, Monaco is a place to see and be seen. The city’s wealth, glamour, and racing provenance all combine to attract some fantastic cars, as we see in this video. It appears to be an impromptu supercar gathering, with Nissan GT-Rs and Lamborghinis galore. But one Mercedes AMG C63 burnout might have taken the horsepower cake.

We’re not 100% sure about the occasion, but a line of supercars in Monaco can be something as small as a car-club breakfast. Whatever the reason for the gathering, the cars depart from the harbor side in a steady stream through one of the city’s tunnels, allowing their exotic engines to echo majestically. Pretty soon, the stream of baller automobiles near the harbor attracts a huge crowd, all with phones and cameras pointed down the tunnel, as one supercar after another sings high-revving lullabies.

The lizard-skin-wrapped W204 C63 probably drew the most cheers for its tire-smoldering launch. The burly 6.2-liter V8 bounces off the rev limiter as the tires lay rubber for a good 100 feet. There are some more burnouts, too, including a good one from a BMW, and lots of fantastic first-gear pulls through the tunnel. For the Benzophiles, one owner also gives his AMG GT a hefty pull.

It’s impressive, not just because of the cars, but because of how quickly the crowd expands. Even in a place like Monaco, where people street-park exotics, a line of high-end cars can draw the masses. Eventually, though clearly only after several minutes of this, someone alerts the local constabulary. The video ends with the sirens of the gendarme, specifically the Maritime Police, coming to break up the spontaneous car gathering.
