While the AMG GT has only just arrived in the collective automotive consciousness, the company is already planning for the future of its newest sports car.

Going out on a low note isn’t such a bad thing. Especially when that note is as low and sonorous as that played by the hand-built V8 of the Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.3 vehicles. Yes, 2014 is the end of an era. The 6.2-liter M156 and M159 units will soon go the way of the dodo, but don’t worry; twin-turbo 5.5L engines have started taking their spots, and the similarly blown 4.0L mill for the next-generation C63 should prove to be a worthy successor. Perhaps in the future those eight-bangers will make a list as revered as the one after the jump.

The marketing team of Mercedes-Benz is one confident group of people. Their confidence is reflected on a video that was released recently showing the love of a number of people for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. A number of people were shown on the video talking about the car in German and was posted on the official YouTube channel of Mercedes-Benz AMG.

This is the SLS GT3 at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race, shot at twilight under hard braking. Check out those glowing discs! This car eventually finished in third place of this rain-soaked Nurburgring endurance race.

Mercedes-Benz has recently entered not one, not two, but three SLS AMG GT3s in the 24-hour race in Dubai, which will be held on January 14, 2011. It will mark the last leg of testing for the gullwing’s racing model. The trio will race under customer teams Heico Motorsport as well as Black Falcon. Heico
