Try Not to Cringe as a CLK-GTR Scrapes Hard
The Mercedes CLK-GTR was once the most expensive car in the world. Originally created so that Mercedes could homologate the company’s racing car, only 25 of these rare birds were ever built. And with a price tag currently reaching over a million dollars, it remains one of the most expensive cars on the planet. However, most, if not all of these cars are rarely driven. They sit in people’s hangars, collecting dust, and appreciating in value.
Thankfully, the owner of this particular CLK-GTR isn’t one of those people. This owner actually drives the collector’s item. Although, judging from the video below, perhaps they shouldn’t. Or at least they should have avoided such a prickly parking lot, so as to avoid scraping the underside of the purpose-built racecar.
As you can see, the driver of the CLK-GTR is attempting to exit the parking lot, and doesn’t exactly have enough ground clearance to make it over the drainage ditch. What happens next is absolutely awesome, if not also cringe worthy. The driver then opens his gull-wing doors, and proceeds at a snail’s pace over the depression, slightly scraping the underside of the front and rear of the car.
At least he drives it though.
