What’s Quicker? Fast Car/Slow Driver or Slow Car/Fast Driver?

By -

Donut Media puts a slow driver into a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and a fast one into a Mitsubishi Mirage to find out.

Automotive enthusiasts always clamor on about how driving a slow car fast is better than driving a fast car slow. And that’s good and all when it involves driving around a canyon road, but what about track times?

Mercedes-AMG CLA 45

Donut Media aimed to find out by putting a fast, professional driver in an incredibly slow car – a Mitsubishi Mirage, which has been renamed the Mitsubishi “Rage” – and a slow, novice driver behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. The two drivers set out to complete a hot lap on the Streets of Willow Springs in an unscientific test to name the victor.

While we hate to spoil surprises, the CLA 45 is much quicker around the track, even with a slowpoke behind the wheel. The poor pro driver piloting the Mitsubishi obviously attempted to get around the entire track without pushing the brakes, but the CLA 45 was just too powerful.

The race would’ve been a lot closer if the pro driver was behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz CLA 250. But what’s the fun in that? So which one’s better, having a fast car to drive slowly, or a slow car to drive quickly? Sorry, but we’ll always take the fast car.
