YouTuber Travels to Germany, Buys SLS AMG Black Dream Car

Shmee150 typically goes after new supercars, but even the ‘old’ SLS AMG Black has been a long time coveted dream car.

Tim Burton has a love of AMGs. And to prove it, he’s using a bright blue G63 AMG to pick up his dream car, an SLS AMG Black. Burton and this SLS actually go back nearly six year, before he could dream of affording it. But now Burton, a serial entrepreneur and former tech lead of an investment firm, can afford that dream car. Hopping in his G63, empty trailer in tow, Burton reminisces, “this is pretty cool to be using the G63 as the towing vehicle for the SLS Black. This was almost kind of in my dreams when I thought about buying one of these.”

The SLS was bought, sight unseen, from super high-end dealership Shaltkulisse. Dream exotics reside here, and so does Burton’s new AMG. Burton could buy other cars based on their newness and flashiness, but for him, the SLS Black is different. “I’d driven them a few times to date, and each and every time it has been one of my most favorite vehicles to get behind the wheel of.”

That’s high praise from Burton, who’s collection of cars consists of the best of the best. “This is major kinda like, ‘pinch me I’m dreaming’ moment,” he says. Burton then gives us a taste of what its like to live the dream, saying, I’ve wanted one of these for years, and like I said it’s the first time for me buying an older car like this. My old Mini for example, even my GTC4 Lusso was two years old when I bought it. But this is 6 years old. It’s a different ball game.” You know you’re successful when the age of a six year old car is a big deal to you.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Burton has seen this SLS. “When I visited Motor World six years ago… this car at the time was wrapped as part of a display to look like a police car,” he explains. This was in his early days of the Shmee150 video channel and long before he amassed an entire collection of exotics. Happily he asks himself, “who would have ever thought back then that in the future, that car might become mine?” And now that it’s his, Burton plans to give it a new paint job. He hasn’t said what he’ll do with it yet. We ask: Burton, what’s wrong with the current color?
