'Groaning' steering at full lock

I guess the below may be a common problem, but I am new to the world of Mercs.
I have a 1990 H reg 190E 2.0 manual.
At steering full lock, when stationary and moving slowly, there is an awful 'groaning' noise. This only happens when the wheel is at full lock to the right- the left is fine.
Is this to do with the PAS motor or steering rack perhaps?

Thanks.

Well first check the power steering fluid level, add as necessary. Then turn the steering wheel all the way left then all the way right. Know as lock to lock, Do this 5 times. If your fluid was low then maybe there is some air in the system. If that does not help I am out of ideas :nix:

Yeah check for the steering fluid level. Noise usually comes from air in the system, some power steering pumps make noise when going out but how long they last before going out even with noise it's hard to say :)
