Improving horsepower on a 190E
hi i was just wondering if there is any way to improve the preformance of my 190E without spending a fortune!
thanks |
1) Define "fortune."
2) What engine and year do you have? 3) How many miles on the engine? 4) What is the current operating condition of the engine? 5) How much performance do you want? And that leads to what do you mean by "performance." Are you looking for cornering and handling, braking, more torque, 1/4 mile times, higher top speed . . .? |
There's no replacement for cubic dollars...

Adding power
I'm new to this game, both in posting email (and/or messaging) and owning a Mercedes. However, having said that I've already started modifiying my 190 and noticed immediate power/fuel gains with this (relatively) cheap modification -- a Magnaflow muffler. Simply put, a better breathing engine performs better, and in the case of a modified muffler, it also sounds better. The next step is to improve the air intake. Nowadays there are several ways to do this but the cheapest way is a higher flow air filter or a cold air intake. I'm currently investigating the latter which is partly why I've joined this site. Is anybody familiar with the Turbonator? It's supposed to improve air intake without an external power source or moving parts.
