Right now I am talking with a local euro car shop on a HID conversion for the car and if that goes through then I'll get tints next.

Congrats.. I too had one when I was 24 yrs old not that long ago. A 1987 2.6, pristine condition, silver/grey with large chrome wheels. It was gorgeous w/ only 45k miles on the clock.

Unfortunatly the guy repoe'd even after he got 7,000 dollars down payment my Dad put down. Grrrr. So my dad reported him to the IRS.. hehe

I felt like royatly while I had it.. although the wheels were too big for the wheel wells.

Nice car, nice rims, but - and I'm sorry to criticise - you've gotta do something about those lights ! :wwf:
I duuno why you guys over in the states have to put up with those srange headlamps but they really do spoil the 'properly engineered' look of the car. For gawd's sake get some proper Mercedes-Benz headlamps on it - like the rest of the world uses. I think you call them 'Euros' or something over there. Clear indicator lenses, with orange LED bulbs, instead of bright orange corners would also help to clean-up the front end a great deal. :X
As regards the rad grille: If you can get the plastic insert from a 500 SEC then it can be filed down to fit in the 190E grille frame. Pending that, it is fairly easy to remove the grey plastic out of the grille shell (leaving the shell on the car) and paint it black. :zoom:
Aside from the above - nice motor, mate ! :smokin:

Its one of the last MINT condition 2.6s out there man! Just try to add some bolt ons. It be great if it were left stock.

kostas86 08-14-2006 01:40 AM

^You know I was actually thinking about that.

kostas86 08-28-2006 03:26 PM

So of course it didn't take long for someone to mess with up.
I had it out on the weekend and someone keyed my front passenger door:wall:
I'm going to see if I can buff it out since it's not extremely deep.

DarkCreep 08-28-2006 04:13 PM

You have haters?

Was it long? It could have been an accident.

bonaturtle 08-28-2006 06:02 PM

where in Chicago are ya? did you find that ride off Craigslist? Looks great

kostas86 08-29-2006 12:05 AM

DarkCreep:
Yeah it's long, just about the entire door:wall:

bonaturtle:
No I didn't get it from there, I just saw it on autotrader the same day he posted it, and next day I bought it.
BTW I am in the Des Plaines/Park Ridge area.
If you want check out the carshow I am hosting September 17th.:)

- clear corners
- S600 grill
- change motor oil to synthetic ( if it wasn't done already)
- FLUSH the tranny
- clay it , 2 coats of Zaino Z2
- Leatherique treatment for the interior
- good car cover

:y

You're kidding, of course.

FLUSH the tranny?

MB transmission aren't flushed.

Simply drain the oil--on MB transmissions there's a drain bolt for converter as well as in main body pan.

As for wheels ... recommend you be able to see before worrying about being seen. Install Euro headlights.

andyv94 09-20-2006 11:16 PM

Do you still have original wheels_

i might be interested....................

Yes I do, and they are in good condition.
Tires(michelin) also are practically new, and they were mounted and balanced by the dealer.
Let me know if you're interested.

kostas86 10-21-2006 09:29 PM

The car is currently on 16x7" Ronal 5 star wheels with Continental ContiTouring 205s all around.
I felt the 18s were just too big, these Ronals give it a nicer classic euro look.
I will post pics when I get a chance.

Also I've been waiting for someone to call me back regarding a HID conversion.

DarkCreep 10-23-2006 03:28 AM

I thought you weren't going to get the HID conversion since you were going to try to keep this car as one of the last stock mint 190s?

CC190E 10-24-2006 12:03 PM

Very Clean!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for such a fine example? 50k miles and near flawless everything else..

If you do decide to go with Euros, I might be interested in buying your US headlights. Keep me in mind.

The 16's look great. Did you mess around with the suspension also or is it stock?

kostas86 10-25-2006 01:04 AM

Dark Creep:
I am still on the fence, he hasn't called me back yet so as of right now it looks like the project has been dropped.

Those were the 18s in the pics on stock suspension, I'll get up pics of the 16s when I get a chance.

kostas86 10-29-2006 01:46 AM

Looks like it'll be nice and sunny out this week so I'll wash the car and take some new pics.:)

kostas86 10-31-2006 02:27 AM

Here are some new pics, I have swapped the 18s with some 16x7 Ronals.
Fits the car a lot better.

Car is in the shop getting a port and polish:)
Get a little more power out of the motor.

kostas86 11-17-2006 11:31 AM

Got the car back tuesday.
The port and polish was completed, and the car feels a tad bit faster.:)

Also people in the shop, kept on gawking over it, lol, they were impressed with the amazing condition of the car which lead to interesting offers:cool:
