Antenna switch in dash no longer functions
Hello everyone:
I have a 1990 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6. My Antenna motor failed so I replaced it with this one from carpartswholesale.com:
http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.co...921+3161&Nty=1
Now, after I installed this new motor, it worked perfectly fine; when I turned the stereo on, the antenna would raise up. However, the switch in the dash to raise and lower the antenna no longer functions.
The installation instructions guided me to leave two wires unconnected to the new motor (on the old motor, all the wires were used, but on the new one, two were left unconnected to the motor). These two wires are a blue/yellow wire and a blue/green wire.
I believe that one, or both, of these wires are relevant to the functioning of the antenna dash switch. On the motor itself, there is one pin that was left unused (meaning that no wires from the mercedes were soldered to it).
Should I try to solder one of those wires to the unused pin, or maybe both of them? Basically, I'm wondering what the blue/yellow and blue/green wires do in the context of my radio antenna. It is also posible that the replacement motor I bought does not support the dashboard antenna switch. Suggestions and guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
That is correct that the replacement antenna does not support the height adjustment. The only that does is the original (and rebuilt original) antennas.
If the height adjustment is really important, try this company: http://www.beckerautosound.com/

The later model W124s didn't have the antenna switch either, thus its antenna just went all the way up and all the way down.

Oh ok, so you're saying that the antenna motor I bought covers a wide range of models that don't necessarily have that dash switch. Makes sense. Thanks for the quick help!
