Thoughts on 190 purchase?

Guys,

I found a very clean 1992 190 2.6 for sale. The car is very clean and not a single dent, teal with beige interior, ONE OWNER 105K on the clock with the original window sticker!!!

Sounds strong and just looks like the perfect conversation peice.

I'm thinking about offering 2250.00 any thoughts?

Nice price. But do yourself a favor and go check the car out early in the morning when the engine is still cold. The 2.6s had transmission problems with some vacuum thing so make sure this one doesnt. Mine would not shift into gear when it was cold or it would shift and then not shift anymore making it a danger to drive until its warmed up. You dont wanna pay 2grand and then have to cough up another 3500 for a new transmission.:)

Yes, try a cold start

Then go on an extended test drive when you're serious, make sure it doesn't overheat. It shouldn't need the high speed aux fans in traffic during this time of the year..

mine would stick in first gear when really cold, I replaced the 40.00 vacuum controled trans modulator, replaced the trans filter removed the valve bodies to clean and inspect, while the pan was off. filled with synthetic fluid and dura lube additive I found on clearance. My modulator was leaking fluid through to vacuum line into the intake, fluid would pool and when I made a sharp left turn it would flood the idle control valve and then somehow back up into the valve cover. My oil level was rising and turning red. My MB tech scratched his head. lots of carbon it the #3 cyliinder burned a valve form trans fluid that was injected. That dip stick is hard to read after it s been running and splashing. I take a reading when its warm and has been sitting for 10 minutes, overfill will blow the seal in your modulator.
