replacing O2 sensors

Has anyone done this on their own? What kind of sensor is it and where was the best place to purchase it? I changed my spark plugs over the weekend and noticed alot of carbon buildup and I know it's been close to 80,000 miles since I last had the dealer replace my O2 sensor. Thanks!

What year and model is it?

Oh sorry, that should have been stated. It is a 1990 190E 2.6. It is the 6 cylinder engine.

If you haven't already heard this, the Ford Mustang 5.0L O2 sensor is the identical Bosch sensor that our cars use, for a lot less $. You will have to splice some wires, but well worth saving about $90. The other alternative is www.oxygensensors.com. The have a complete kit, including postage for $49.

49 dollars? That's awfully cheap. The website wasn't working when I tried. Does it look like this?

The site seems to be working, since I snipped this pic from them:

That doesn't look like the same sensor.

It's just the generic pic I pulled from their website to indicate that the site is functioning. I believe they have Walker sensors as well as OEM for most models.

As I said, you can always go to the FoMoCo dealership and get the 5.0 Mustang sensor that is the identical Bosch part, you just have to do your own wire splices and heat shrinking.

Here's a link to 2Phast's website that has more info on using the Mustang sensor: Rik Johnson's 190E Site

And a MercedesShop forum link: O2 Sensor Thread
