Dead Remote Entry

Hi all,

About six months ago, the sounds for my keyless lock/unlock stopped working, no single or double beep when activating lock or unlock on keyless remote. About three months ago, keyless lock/unlock began working a tad slower than usual. About three days ago, it stopped working altogether, so I replaced the battery in the remote. Now it still doesn't work at all, though I do notice that the flashing lights to the left of steering wheel signifying alarm on/off are still reacting to my open/close button on remote. But now I have to manually open the car doors. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

If you manually open the driver side door do the other locks open as well?

Could be a vacuum leak in the lock system, not screwed...

hi all..well, after going to my mechanic today for other issues, he informed me that this alarm/remote entry system is not factory. it is an Automate system, model 476a. I have spent three hours online looking for a manual and can't find one. I did find a little info which taught me that I can start the car by depressing two buttons on the remote at the same time...this was new to me and a neat feature. But I still have not been able to reset the remote to actually open and close my locks and though this is not a problem as I can use my key, the remote system also controls the lid to the gas, so I cannot fill it up, therefore I cannot drive it. The trunk is also hooked to this system, so I cannot open the trunk and when I bought the car, was told by the owner that the doorkey also worked to the trunk. It does not, so I can also not get into my trunk. Yes, that was dumb. I asked the mechanic if there was a way to get into the trunk from the inside or to pop the gas lid and he said there was no way to do this other than to disable the vacuum system. I suspect there is a way to reset the remote to work the locks and the gas cover and the trunk but I do not know the sequence. Does anyone out there know either where I can get a manual for this Automate model or know the button depression sequence to reset controlling my problem functions with the remote? Thanks a million ahead of time.

ok, just found out the 476a is just the model number of the remote handset, NOT the number of the alarm system. I went to the Automate site and saw about 40 manuals, but have no idea which system I have, as most are operated with my exact remote set, just programmed at installation to work with different alarm/entry/unlocking systems.
