I've been advised that my AC system needs a new expansion valve. Anybody know what and where to get the best manual to cover the AC system?

Most of the aftermarket manuals, like Haynes and Chiltons shy away from some topics like the HVAC system, other than removal and installation. You'll probably need one like the new Haynes, which covers the 2.6 and the MB Service CD for the W201.

I found the MB cd price is around $130 and havn't found the Haynes price. Are you refering to cat #63015? Does it have anything on the ac?

You can't replace the expansion valve unless you evacuate the refrigerant loop first. Have it pumped down (unless it has a leak and is already empty).
