changing 15" to 16" wheel ... tire size?

I have 205/55/15 and i want to change to a 16" wheel.

what's the exact tire size?

215/45/16 ?

I have 205/55/16 Kumho 712's and they rub. I would go with 205/50/16's

Optional 16" 205/50-16

Check out www.tirerack.com.

You can select optional size wheels and the it tells you the best tire size that will fit.

i talked with Mercedes Benz Portugal, and the right size and the only size for 16" legalized is 225/45/16

What do you think? To much tire for this car?

I've looked up some 16" tire sizes for the w201 in Germany:

here are some RH rims:
205/45 R16
205/50 R16
215/40 R16
215/45 R16
205/45 R16

225/45 may be too wide. Why is 205/50 not legal? That's the correct size.

Maybe the rim is to wide... 9x16 or something even bigger...
