I have a 190e 2.3-16v 1986 not started for 20 years
It's been sitting in my garage in NJ (not heated) and has 20k miles, I'm the original owner. Should I start it up and drive it to my mechanic for a complete service? Or should I have it flatbedded to him? He's only 8 miles from my house. Any advice on getting it roadworthy? I want to use it as a Sunday driver only. My C300 Sport will continue to be my daily driver.

If it were mine, I would flatbed the beauty to your mechanic, however I sure hope he knows the older MB systems,if not is like trying to do knee surgery on yourself, not to many good outcomes. Then you will be back he whining and badmouthing your mechanic.

I agree.
yea man. flat bed that baby to a nearby shop to have them change out all the oils before driving it. Sometimes moisture can build up on those cars that have been sitting and can cause havoc on the motor. Plus you can get the tech to safety check the car to make sure its OK to drive.

Flatbed.
There are a number of things to do before starting any car that has been sitting not running for twenty years. Do a search, and read some articles so that you can speak knowledgeably with the mechanic. There is an active group of 16V owners at 190rev dot net.
