MBUSA W221 Bulletins to date
Service Campaign 2007020003 MAR07 – It is possible that the connection of the coolant line to the engine may not meet specifications. Under extremely high engine operating temperatures this may lead to long term coolant system overheating. Dealers will check the coolant line and replace it as a preventative measure. BTW owners should have received a letter from MBUSA for this.
Service Campaign 2007030002 APR07 – The electrohydraulic control module pilot bushing may have been installed with a seal ring that does not meet specifications. This may cause a small transmission oil leak to occur. Dealer will replace the bushing. A letter was also sent out for this campaign.
Call your dealer and have them check VMI to determine if your vehicle is involved in these campaigns.

To my real question: - I have a Dec 2005 S320cdi 220 series. Have done 26,000 miles with no problems at all and love the car. From time to time get a hankering for the 221 series -usually after seeing some of Nevada Jacks photos. But wondered how has the 221 series been reported by J.D Power and by CR? I gather the 220 series was not kindly reported (though mine has been faultless). Have there been any independent surveys yet of the 221 series as regards reliability?
Does that sound right or did he really mean intake?

Any plans to call Greg and replace the CLS?
I was surprised the A service was only $210 including parts! i am used to paying $300-400 per service or more.

I checked with parts and the SA and there is no new Navi DVD for the S550 as yet. I took delivery in April '06 and hopefully when the '08 models hit the streets the updated DVD will be available for purchase. It would be nice if it also did some updating of the software with new features.
Thanks. I do do that but it would be nice to have a UK thread as good as the one you are providing. Interesting and a useful check.
