Bluetooth for 2008 ML350
The Module you could buy it in Ebay for $ 360 ( dealer price $420) and you just insert it in its location.
The MHI craddle could also be purchased in Ebay.
Question: Does the craddle needs special installation and set up? Does this has to be done by a dealer?
There are some recommended telephones which could use either like
Verizon Motorola V 3m.
Please help
Thanks
Two minutes tops.
So the cradle is also just a plug in? Does it plug in the same connection as the module? Does it need an adapter or it is part of the cradle?
I saw a photo and it seems that it is an adapter under the arm rest and the cradle plugs in.
Do you need a set up?
I have a Motorola V3m which is recommended and I felt that a cradle will be easier to charge and download the phone book.
If you have P1 in your 2008 ML, you have the preparation for bluetooth. In your center console bin, look on the right and you'll see a black plastic cap, which is covering the connector. Simply pull it off.
Why use a cradle where you have to take your phone out of your pocket every time you get into the car? I have the BT puck in my ML and E and LOVE IT! The connection is very clear and address books download without a problem (I use an iPhone). AND, my phone stays in my pocket all the time.
Hope this helps!

My dealer says I have to purchase the module and have them do the pairing which means I have to pay for labor too. Whats involved in pairing the module, phone, command system? Is this something I can do myself? or Is the my salesman trying to rip me off?
Thanks!!!
It works great and for the pairing you need to follow the cell instruction and the cradle or puck one.
I can download the phone book and charge the phone.
The only item missing is the voice control so in reality to make calls you still need to push some soft keys.
I am quite sure you do not need the dealer to do the pairing if you have the phone manual. The dealer should give you the puck manual if you buy it from him as it comes as a separate accessory in a box with the manual.
Good luck
Here you go.
- Pull the plastic cap that's in the center console covering the phone's connector (Image 1).
- Slide the BT puck over the connector (with the benz logo facing forward) until it snaps in place (image 2).
- Press the TEL button on Comand to let the puck and car start the initial connection process. Comand will tell you when its ready.
- Slide off the plastic cover on the BT puck to reveal your puck's pairing code (image 3).
- Press (hard) the Mercedes Benz logo in the front of the puck to start the pairing process. The blue lights on the puck will start flashing.
- Initiate the pairing on your cell phone. When your phone asks for the pairing code, enter the numbers on the puck's label.
- Let the pairing complete and (if you have an equipped phone) your address book to download. Depending on the number of contacts on your phone, it may take a few minutes to download.

Honestly, that is ALL THERE IS! Do NOT pay anyone to do this for you. I picked up my ML320CDI today and I had my bluetooth installed, paired and making calls within TWO MINUTES of opening the box for the puck. That is without the isntructions above!
Did I miss the boat bigtime? My car isn't wired to accept the BT adapter?

You say "lots of wires" in the console. There should be no wires visible. Could it be that somebody yanked the BT plug from the console and all there is left is the wires?
j.
Jose, NO. My 08' ML350 doesn't have it too. The parts guy said my truck is not pre-wired for BT. Can I do something on my own to use BT in my COMAND HU?
Your help is always appreciated.

If you have iPhone and all the extra wiring, so your phone will also work as iPod and play you some music.
Sorry I mis-stated the wires. There are no loose wires and no indication of a removal. I can make out a wiring harness going into the center console lid. I see no indications of a receptacle anywhere, unless it is under the felt. Is the receptacle normally in the console or in/on the lid?
