2004 E55 I Phone works with bluetooth
Mercedes Benz Part number # B 67 87 58 55 (puck with tail) $365 to $488 plus what ever the dealer charges to program (Star) phone present (but leave teleaid off), and it works.
I have not found any functions that do not work.
Make calls.
Receive calls.
Caller ID.
Incoming number/name appearers in command display and MFD and call timer.
Phone book downloads.
Controls on steering wheel work.
Keeps last number and recent too.
Command key pad works.
Bluetooth puck paired when door is open and will sleep when phone out of range.
I am 100% satisfied

So you're saying I can buy that bluetooth adaptor off ebay. Click it into my handset cradle in my 03 E55 and use my iPhone with the integrated system? Sorry I didn't understand because you say "I Phone". You mean iPhone right made by Apple?

There is a puck for cars like yours that have the cradle it is called a V60 it just plugs in to your existing cradle I think it works the same as the puck with tail, but I really don't know. Here is a site with more information.
http://www.wireless4mb.com/
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-OEM-MERCEDES...QQcmdZViewItem
The basic difference between what I used (puck with tail) and the V60 and cradle is, I did not have to buy the cradle and V60 puck (over $500)
At this point you can do one of two things, buy the V60 puck, snap it in to the cradle and see if it works or buy the puck with the tail and remove your cradle and put the puck with tail in it's place.
I know the puck with tail works, The V60 puck looks allot like puck with tail and is probably the same thing I just don't know 100% (price is about the same)
I have not tried the SMS text, I never use it any way but I do see a button on my command screen for it.
OK, clear as mud right? Yes apple I-Phone.

I have the v60 phone systems in my 04 E55 w. Command nav, 02 CLK55 w Command, nav and voice, and 01 ML55 w. MCS nav. I bought the V60 bluetooth pucks for the wife and myself, each will pair with two bluetooth phones, but only one at any time.
I'm very pleased with their operation, they work great in all three vehicles despite the vehicles year and system differences.
No problems with phone calls incoming and out going, caller id on the i/c and nav displays (not on ML), phonebooks download, Command or MCS number pads or other functions, handsfree, steering controls on the CLK and E (not on ML), voice control in my CLK works (very cool-I need to add it to the E55) and automatic connect and disconnect every time. I have tested them with both my Nokia 6102i and Motorola v551 both on Cingular/AT&T service.
The downsides are, no cradle for your phone, so no external phone antenna or charging as the original v60 phone would get through the cradle.
Upsides, I don't have to charge my phones everyday, so I can leave it on my belt, I don't have to open the console to place it in the cradle ever, I don't miss calls due to incoming phone calls muting the sound system, the steering controls, handsfree, voice control and number pads are all easier to deal with while driving than holding a phone.
If I was still depending on my Motorola's I would need an external antenna, but my reception w. the Nokia phone is awesome, even out in the boonies.
This is a superior alternative to any of the aftermarket on even the phone manufacturers own car kits. I will probably install a unswitched 12vt. accessory plug in the console or glove box to hide the phones when I'm charging in the car.
By the way the signal strength meter on the Command or MCS screen will show one bar if the puck is paired/connected, 2 or 3 bars if there is a problem. My Nokias shows a little car in the middle of the screen when it's connected.

If you have a bluetooth phone, and the V60 cradle in your center console, then the puck will work, it does in my 02 CLK, 04 E5, and 01 ML55. Would help if you state what car you have but I will assume it an 03-04 e55 w211.

Now you have a choice if your car has the cradle all you need is the V60 puck.

If your car had no phone or cradle then use MB# B 67 87 58 55 (puck with tail) this replaces the cradle and the V60 puck.

Oz,
In our US cars the connection is under the liner in the upper compartment of the center console. I would think yours should be located in the same place even though your car is probably right hand drive. If you have any problems finding it, I will go and take pics cause, I want to reposition mine anyway.

I went to an indy shop here in OKC and told him that I needed a puck with tail. The service writer told me that I was wrong and just ordered the puck for me. (I have the V60 cradle in the console.) He was right and my iphone works great with it.
It took me about 3 minutes to put the puck in and to get the phone mated. Of the "cushy" features, this and the keyless go are my favorites.

I paid 390.00 plus tax for the puck in my 04 model. I am sure that is not a bargain, but I didn't shop around at all. Again, I did have the v60 cradle already in the car. As the OP stated, the puck works great with my phone.
While not on topic, I paid 160.00 at the same place for another key, as my car only came with one.

I have a nokia (6210) car cradle (apparently the Euro version). Problem is the old 6210s are now unrelaible. I purchased the visseo puck and it works a treat with all the bluetooth phones I own BUT there is an intermittent connection problem. Its not the blue tooth its the cradle or a connection somewhere. I think I might need to replace the cradle but am unsure how to get it out or where/what the coiled lead connects to.
Thanks
