*** VRP C63 R&D ***
After several weeks of R&D I wanted to post some pictures of the latest data.
On C63 there are two major HP limiting factors.
One, as many of you are aware is software. M156 engine has twin 74 mm throttle bodies, on other chassises they open up to 76% at WOT. On the C63, they only open 50%.
The second limitation is size of the exhaust system. Unlike other chassis, it is only 2.5’’ vs. 2.75’’ for others platforms.
Stock car is shown as a blue graph. It has been dynoed in 3rd and 4th gears, thus the shift dip/spike at 87MPH. The red graph shows opening TBs to 87% through software - C63 responded with 50HP and 47TQ gains.
Adding CF airbox with HiFlow Air Filters, shorty headers, Underdrive pulleys, heat spacers and relocating intake charge temperature sensor (Green graph) - we were able to add another 20HP and as much 25TQ accross the powerband.
This is where second limitation comes in. Stock 2.5'' showed a big increase in backpressure, indicating possibility of substantial gains from bigger exhaust system.
Our next step is a set of long tube headers along with hiflow exhaust.
I will post further results next week.
Stay Tuned.

the throttle body mod was quite the gain. Are you going to offer that as a tune without having to do major surgery?
(headers, airbox, X pipe etc)?
A stage one sorta.
Congrats.
